Post 1-History

Cats are cute lovable creatures that make great pets. They were first domesticated by Egyptians 5,000 years ago. Egyptians worshiped cats and called them gods and goddesses. The Egyptians tamed the cats and brought them over to Italy where they slowly spreaded to the rest of Europe. The short haird domestic cat spread around the world. The long haird cats came from Turkey and Iran and later got popular. The top 3 most popular cats are 1. Persian 2. Main Coon 3. short haired Persian.

There are over five hundred million cats in the world with 33 different breeds. The largest of all  breeds is the Rag doll.  Males weigh from 12 to 20 pounds well females way 10 to 15 pounds. The smallest cat breed is the Singapura. Females way about 6 pounds, males  way about 4 pounds. Over 35,000 kittens are born in America each year.

Cats have 290 bones and 517 muscles in their bodies. The oldest cat that ever lived was named Puss, she died one day after her 36th birthday. There are up to 200 hairs every square millimeter, but the final number of hairs depends on the size of the cat. Each cat has 24 whiskers, 12 on each side of their face. Whiskers help make cats balanced. Cats are not color blind , but they can't see bright colors or tie die. Cats have vertical slits in their eyes, the slit narrows the eye so that light passes through, they don't have to squint.

Did you know that people who have cats live longer and happier lives and have less heart attacks? Cats can do that because they are calm quiet animals who are nice and friendly which makes people calm, nice friendly people . If you are prone to getting heart attacks, I suggest getting a cat.

Post 3-How To

How To Make A Cat Toy

There are a lot of different kinds of cat toys but my cats favorite kind has a string, a ball, a stick, and of course..... cat nip! Cat nip is a tasty treat only for cats that cats love. When cats smell it, their whole world turns around, they actually jump for joy!!!

How to make a cat toy: first you have to have a stick or something durable like a stick. Next, take string, felt, or a ribbon and cut out a long piece of it. With a hot glue gun, glue your felt, string, or ribbon on to the stick. Make sure you have enough glue on the stick or else it will not work. Attach your string, felt, or ribbon and let it dry. Next take your ball, get some cat nip and roll it around in cat nip. After rolling your ball in cat nip for about 5 minutes, your ball should smell like cat nip and hopefully taste like it two! After that, glue your ball two the felt, string, or ribbon and let it dry for about 7 minutes.

You just made a great cat toy that your cats will love!!! Enjoy!!!

post 5-Summary

My experience researching and learning about cats was very fun and interesting! At first I thought I knew a lot about cats, but when I started looking for information I realized that there were so many cool facts about cats that I didn't know. For example, when cats are first born they have bright blue eyes for about 12 weeks, then they turn into other colors. Another cool fact is the the word ( in cat language) "meow" means a lot of different things like, when you are holding your cat "meow" could mean put me down. Another thing "meow" could mean is I'm hungry.

Finding a lot of good information about cats was a little bit hard for me because I had a lot of information and it was kind of hard finding the good information and the interesting facts.

Evan though it was a little hard finding information, I still learned a lot of things about cats that I can use in my future years of being a cat owner.
